Under Tasks and Hours you plan tasks in a work breakdown structure (WBS), assign resources to them, and set working periods in Gantt, Kanban and tabular formats.
In the first tab, tasks are presented in the typical Gantt view.
Clicking on will create a new task (or a subtask).
Dependencies between tasks are created as shown here:
To remove a link double click on it and click delete. The same linkages can be established and removed within the task modal, which is visible when you double-click.
Double clicking on task list item or on the task name (the blue bar) will open a window to edit the task.
Here tasks are organized into columns. This particular view is known as a Kanban board.
By default, TCP creates three statuses "Backlog", "Doing" and "Completed". These categories can be extended by creating sub categories (e.g. "completed but to be tested" and "completed and tested successfully"), eliminated, or organized in any other convenient way. To customize, click on:
This will show the following modal:
clicking on the button will open the following modal:
Here you can additionally specify if the new status is a "child" status (as in this case) or a "father" status.
The example above would produce the following result:
which makes more sense when we create a new "child" status, like here:
The problem here is that it seems the columns are out of order. Let's reopen the edit column modal and drag the bars to the correct place:
Instead of the form you can also define here the "parent - child" relationship between statuses. Let's assume we want to move "Completed (to be tested)" under doing, we have to move it under "Doing" and then on the right:
It must be moved substantially to the right to cause the "indentation".
When moving a status "under" another, an alert will appear to warn you that all tasks inside the "father" status will be reset as "no status". You'll have to manually assign them to any of the "children".
The list view shows the same tasks and subtasks but in tabular form.
Tasks and subtasks can be added to the list by clicking .
Dates and times
Under this tab you can set the working days and times for the project that are common to all resources. Note that the below entries use 24:00 (military) time for clarity.
By default the system considers the working hours from 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, with a break from 12:00 to 13:00. These values can be changed.
Special periods can also be specified, with a work schedule that will override the "standard" schedule. Simply click on the button to create any special period.
In the examples above we defined Easter (office completely closed) and Summer time (during which, on Fridays, the schedule change to 8:00 - 15:00 with no break.
